1980s Music Quiz Top of the Pops

Can you get 100% in the 1980s Music Quiz? The Eighties started with AC/DC playing “Touch Too Much,” Madness performing “Baggy Trousers,” and Adam and the Ants playing “Dog Eat Dog.” Adam and the Ants stood out not only because of their music and the fact that they had two drummers but also because of their unique style and fashion sense. This ensured that the 80s started with great music. Fashion was also a significant aspect of this era, with leg warmers, canvas jeans, and puffball skirts being memorable trends.

Even in 1989, as the decade drew to a close, the TV show Top of the Pops continued to feature 80s music. “Fine Young Cannibals” performed “She Drives Me Crazy,” a song I loved so much that I purchased the album. I still own it today, and I still enjoy it.

However, there was some terrible music around at the time as well. Honestly, I was not a fan of Jason Donovan, Samantha Fox, or The London Boys. They had a persona, but their music just wasn’t for me. I’d rather listen to Radio Four than any of their albums. A few of them even appear in the MiniPops quiz.

Top of the Pops wasn’t the only source of music, though. It was also common for the public to record the Top 30 Chart show on a Sunday evening. Cassettes had become more accessible and affordable during the 80s. I was always trying to record The BBC Top 30 Singles Chart on a Sunday night at 7 PM, and I was often frustrated when the presenter talked over the end of the song or when my younger brother made noises to annoy me. These are just some of my memories of 80s music. Be sure to check out our other music quizzes.
