1980s Music Quiz Top of the Pops
Can you get 100% in the 1980s Music Quiz? Top of the Pops in the Eighties was massive. Quite often the presenters whereas outlandish as the featured bands. Who could forget the shirts worn by Gary Davies or Timmy Mallet.
I certainly remember Dexys Midnight Runners performing “Jackie Wilson Said”. They played in front of a massive picture of Jockey Wilson the darts player. It wasn’t clear if it was a misunderstanding, or, a deliberate joke.
1980s Music Quiz The decade started out with AC/DC playing Touch Too Much, Madness performing “Baggy Trousers” and Adam and the Ants appeared playing “Dog Eat Dog”. Adam and the Ants stood out not only because of the music and the fact they had two drummers. Their style and dress sense certainly made them stand out from other bands. This ensured that the 80s started out with great music. Fashion was also a major part of this. I’m sure you will remember Legwarmers, canvas jeans, and puffball skirts.
In 1989 the decade was coming to its end. This did not stop the flow of 80s music shown on Top of the Pops.
“Fine Young Cannibals” performed “She Drives Me Crazy”. Personally, I loved that song. So much so that I went out and purchase the album. I still own it today, what’s more, I still like it.
Don’t get me wrong, there was some awful awful music around at the time! To be honest I did not like Jason Donovan, Samantha Fox, and The London Boys. There is no doubt that they had persona but to me their music was awful. I would rather listen to radio four than any of their albums. A couple of them appear in the MiniPops quiz.
Top of the Pops wasn’t the only source of music. It was also quite common for the public to record the Top 30 Chart show on a Sunday evening. Cassette tapes had become popular, and, more affordable during the 80s. I was always trying to record The BBC Top 30 Singles Chart on a Sunday night at 7 PM. I was frequently infuriated when the presenter would talk over the end of the track. Alternatively, my younger brother would deliberately make noises to annoy me. These are just some of the 80s music memories that I have. Be sure to check out our other music quizzes
