For those that don’t know Glam Rock is a type of rock music. It first appeared in the UK around the 1970s and has been thrilling fans ever since.
Most of the bands wore glamorous almost outrageous clothes and make-up. It would be fair to say that many bands fall into this category. Such as Skid Row who in my opinion dress very effeminately. But somehow, they managed to carry it off and look pretty cool. And then there is T Rex, Slade, Mud, Freddie Mercury, Rod Stewart, Sparks, New York Dolls, and Sweet.
When I was a kid my mum worked in a small record shop. I was really fortunate in that I have access to loads of music. I wasn’t able to take it home but at least I could sit and listen to whatever I chose. And, I quite often chose David Bowie. His Ziggy Stardust phase was most definitely Glam. He came across as a bit weird, but definitely an amazing showman and entertainer. It’s worth a quick search and watching the performances of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.
