Welcome to the Southport Past and Present Quiz! This quiz is designed for those who grew up in the town to reminisce and for newcomers to discover some interesting facts about the area. My name is Mike Mulrooney, and I grew up in Birkdale during the 1970s. My bedroom window overlooked Bedford Park, where I spent many hours playing. I have many great memories and friends from that time, friendships that have lasted a lifetime.

My first pint was in The Portland, the first nightclub I entered was The Kingsway. The Crown, The Scarisbrick and the Madeira club were also frequent haunts of mine during the eighties. During the 1990s, I relocated to the South in search of career opportunities. A couple of years later, I moved back to the north-west, settling in Wigan. Southport still has a special place in my heart, mainly because many of my family members still live there. Reflecting on the past, the Southport past quiz brings back fond memories and a sense of nostalgia.
