Basic Science Quiz how much do you remember from school?
Basic Science Quiz, I quite enjoyed the subject while at school. Unfortunately, I did not see eye to eye with the science teacher. It’s a pity really as later on in life I found out I had quite an aptitude for the subject.
Surprisingly, only 10% of people get more than 9 out of 12
I got 8. What can you do?
Basic Science how much do you remember from school?
Here are five basic science facts that are commonly taught to school children:
1. **Water exists in three states:** Water is a unique substance because it can naturally be found as a liquid (like the water we drink), a solid (ice), and a gas (steam or water vapour). This is a fundamental concept in understanding states of matter.
2. **Light travels faster than sound:** This is why, for example, you see a flash of lightning before you hear the clap of thunder during a storm. Light moves incredibly fast, while sound travels much slower through the air.
3. **The Earth has layers:** Our planet isn’t just a solid ball. It has different layers, with the main ones being the crust (the outer rocky layer we live on), the mantle (a hotter, thicker layer beneath the crust), and the core (the very hot, dense centre of the Earth).
4. **Living things are made of cells:** All plants and animals, including humans, are made up of tiny building blocks called cells. Cells are the basic units of life and perform all the functions necessary to keep an organism alive.
5. **Plants make their food using sunlight:** Through photosynthesis, plants use energy from the sun, water, and a gas called carbon dioxide from the air to create their own food (sugars). This process also releases the oxygen that animals, including humans, need to breathe.
