I have loved Formula One since the 1970s. James Hunt, Niki Lauda are some of the earliest Grand Prix memories I have. There was, of course, the excited voice of Murray Walker. Gosh, I really miss his commentary. Because the guy is an absolute legend! Fortunately, I got to see Murray at Silverstone during the British Grand Prix in the 1990s. I only wish had managed to speak to him, it would have made a perfect weekend even better.
I have been to several British Grand Prix. And It is difficult to explain how awesome it is. I highly recommend you save up the cash and go to one of the races. The sound, the smell and the feeling are unforgettable. I distinctly remember listening to the V12 engines in the 1990s. They were so loud it was painful but strangely addictive. And you can feel the engine noise in your chest. And it gave me that incredible tingly feeling which cannot be replicated by any other means.
Some refer to Formula One as a circus. I actually find that quite accurate especially at the race itself. It is a carnival-type atmosphere. There are food vendor’s, merchandise sellers and fairground rides. Including activities for adrenaline junkies like myself. It was the 1st time I have ever seen the reverse bungee. And I loved it and found it totally exhilarating. You should give it a go.
I do have a criticism about the F1 TV coverage! It is not a true reflection of the weekend’s events. There are so many different kinds of races over the weekend. There are the lower formulas, classic races and a multitude of other motorsport events. The British Formula One is very expensive to attend. However, I guarantee that once you have been to a Grand Prix you will want to go again and again.
