Liverpool is a maritime city in the north-west of England. It has been a major trade and migration port since the 18th century. It has always had a large mixture of nationalities, therefore, a large mixture of languages. Despite this large mixture, Liverpool has a very particular accent.

This accent is referred to as Scouse. Even this accent changes depending on where you are in Liverpool. In Bootle the accent is quite soft, however, in Toxteth, it is quite a strong accent.
