The 1980s Quiz – Can You Pass The Eighties Test?
Get ready for a blast from the past with the 1980s Quiz, also known as The Eighties Test. It’s a fun-filled journey through the music, movies, television, and world events of the eighties. Do you know who had a hit with “Don’t Stand so Close to Me” or “Super Trooper”? The Liverpool band Frankie Goes to Hollywood had several number-one hit records. The video for “Two Tribes Goes to War” was a great parody of American and Russian leaders. Their other hit, Relax, went straight to number 1. Even after all these years, I still have a copy of their album in my record collection.

Television
The Black Adder and “Only When I Laugh” were massive during this decade. As was the children’s news programme, Newsround. On a Saturday morning, kids gathered around the TV to watch either Swap Shop or Tiswas. Both of them disappeared from our screens by the mid-1980s. For those reasons, they aren’t in The Eighties Quiz.
My favourite Eighties Comedy was The Young Ones. It was a refreshing change from the old fuddy-duddy style of squeaky-clean humour favoured by the old folks. The show was anarchic, loud and absolutely brilliant. Set in a shared student house, it featured young comedians and a different band performing one of their new songs weekly. If songs are your thing, you will love the 1980s Pop Quiz.
A popular Saturday night TV programme gave us Boss Hogg and Daisy Duke. It also featured a speedy red and white American car. Can you remember what it was called?
